There are two types of hard floor restoration and finishing procedures.

Scrub and Wax

This procedure is used for refinish floors with finish in good condition, not dull, but may have scratches and soil on top layer of the finish only. It may focus on high traffic areas or specifice areas where floor is soiled or the finish is in need of repair.

It involves using heavy duty floor cleaning solution to break up embedded soils and loosen scuff marks. Then a heavy scrubbing pad is used to remove soil and the damaged top layer of floor finish without disturbing healthy layers of finish underneath. Once the solution is cleaned up and the floor is dry, the new floor finish is applied. Finally, a floor burnisher is used to polish or burnish the floor to bring out its original shine. Burnishing provides for maximum gloss and durability.

Strip and Wax

Some floors may require all of the existing finish be removed so that new finish may be applied. This involves using a floor stripping solution to completely liquify the finish and break it’s bond from the floor surface. Most are designed to strip 4-6 coats in one application. Then a floor pad is floor pad is used to remove as many coats of finish as possible exposing bare floor surface without scratching floor surface. Once the solution is cleaned up and the floor is dry, the new floor finish is applied. Finally, a floor burnisher is used to polish or burnish the floor to bring out its original shine. Burnishing provides for maximum gloss and durability.
